CrossFit Thor is now MWSC
Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 9:39 AM Starting Monday, CrossFit Thor will operate as Midwest Strength & Conditioning. We are adding a lot of classes and services to our facility and the name change is a reflection of that. We will still be offereing standard CrossFit classes in the form of the WOD (Workout of the Day) class.
Here is a little more information about all of the great new class offerings ad class times you will have to choose from. All of these changes will take place next week.
Workout of the Day
The Workout of the Day class is designed around functional and fundamental movements, performed at high intensity. This program design offers the most effective general fitness results in the most efficient manner possible. Each training session is different, featuring different exercises, performed across different time domains. These workouts take place in a fun, and competitive environment by providing you with quantifiable, and measurable results.
The Max Effort Black Box (MEBB)
This class is based on the most popular strength template to improve CrossFit and athletic performance. Created in 2003, by Coach Michael Rutherford, the MEBB is a program of dedicated strength training followed by a brief metabolic conditioning (Metcon) session. If you lack the ability to perform Metcon training with the prescribed weights, or wish to train with a strength bias and the flavor of a Division I college athlete, this is your program.
Sports Performance
The Sports Performance class is an Off-Season and Preseason conditioning program for youth and high school athletes. Each training session is designed to increase the athletes’ proficiency in speed, lateral movements, balance and mobility, and overall strength and endurance. This program has proven successful in increasing athletic performance and lean body mass, in a safe and professional environment necessary for injury prevention.
Low Intensity Functional Training (LIFT)
This class is similar to the Workout of the day, in the fact that it is designed around functional movements. However, this class does not provide a competitive environment, unless chosen. During this class you will focus on skill intensive, total body movements designed to increase strength, balance and coordination.
Mobility
Mobility class is a 30 min. class that focuses on Dynamic Range-of-Motion (DROM) and joint flexibility. Each class is designed to help you keep your joints feeling good and primed for performance. This class takes place in a relaxed and slow paced environment.
Olympic Weightlifting
Olympic Weightlifting is made up of three lifts; the Snatch, the Clean, and the Jerk. Each of these lifts develops strength and power. These lifts are very technical, and require lots of practice in order to increase proficiency.
Each Olympic Weightlifting Programming Period includes:
-A Dynamic Warm-up
- Practice in all 3 pulling positions
- Developmental skill exercises designed to increase speed under the bar
- Max Effort Lift Testing each month
